Candidate for Beccles South
I was born and brought up in Bramfield and went to school in Halesworth. I have been married to Cheryl for thirty-four years and live in Beccles with our two cats, where we moved after thirty-one years in London. Four years ago, Cheryl's mother moved in with us so that we could care for her.
I have worked in the toy trade for thirty-five plus years, almost thirty of those years in various roles in Hamleys of London. It was in London that I served a four year term as a school governor at Invicta Primary School in Charlton having been selected by Greenwich Council.
I love living in Beccles and I want to make a difference by being involved and giving something back to the people of Beccles. I want to make sure that the views of the local people count. I am an USDAW member, and as retailing is the biggest employer in the town, I am well placed to help people in this sector.
I am particularly interested in the NHS, having had a successful kidney transplant thirty-five years ago. I would like to see some stability in the education system. I really believe that Labour is the party of the many and is for everyone.
The return of the household waste recycling centre is a key issue for Beccles. Since the charging system has been introduced we have seen a huge increase of fly tipping. A banning of recruitment agencies that only hire foreign workers and therefore undercut wages is also something I want to see happen. I'm keen to work with residents in Beccles South to look at the effect of the relief road.
Please get in touch with issues you would like me to help you with.
