Labour Cllr Saves Homes In Harbour!

photo_(24).JPG

Councillor Janet Craig recently saved the homes of certain Harbour residents whose houses had been affected by work done on their houses by Climate Energy, under the Green Deal Scheme, which had been paid for by Waveney District Council.

The Green Deal Scheme was a scheme offering free installation of energy saving materials, which for some became a nightmare!

Councillor Craig received complaints from some residents, who had taken advantage of the scheme, as they had been left with holes in their walls and damp.

On further investigation Councillor Craig then worryingly discovered that Climate Energy had since been awarded a similar contract by Suffolk County Council, which could lead to problems Suffolk-wide.

Concerned, Councillor Craig contacted Councillor Richard Smith, the then environment portfolio holder to pressure him to investigate.

As a result of Councillor Craig’s work; the affected residents are receiving compensation and any required work to rectify problems.

Suffolk County Council will also examine all new work done by Climate Energy before they pay them any money.
