Money to waste? By-election candidate condemns Tory mismanagement

Labour's candidate for the Oulton Broad by-election Len Jacklin has condemned Tory-run Waveney District Council's mismanagement of waste collection. Len said:

'When the green bin charge was introduced last year more household waste was collected but waste recycled or composted fell.

'Labour councillors said this would happen but the Conservatives ignored us. The Tories said it would save money but the real consequences are that we, the taxpayers, pay more to dispose of extra waste instead of it being recycled.

'So council tax payers pay to have the green waste collected and then pay again to dispose of non-recycled waste. We pay twice!

'This is without the hidden cost of clearing up the additional fly-tipping that you told us about in our summer survey.

'Once again, the deceitful, short-sighted Tories are grabbing extra money from us whilst claiming to save us money.'
