Plans in place for the future of the NHS.
NHS secret must be out.
Do you know what a Sustainability and Transformation Programme (STP) is? There are 44 STP’s across the country which aims to save the NHS money - in Norfolk and Waveney £300m needs to be saved over the next five years.
The lead for the Norfolk and Waveney STP Mr Antek Lejk said: “I have to confess the whole process about setting up the STP was in secret a bit, we were told not to be too involved in public debate.”
Many of the NHS staff and members of the public feel in the dark over changes to the Health Service. Secrecy and public ignorance have been important for the STP, the October 2016 submission to NHS England identifies public objections as a key risk.
However recently at a Norfolk Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee meeting held in Norwich Mr Lejk said, “We do need to do more to get an understanding on what we are saying.”
There is so much that is going on that is slipping under the public’s radar. Last July there was a STP Public meeting held in Norwich and now there is the opportunity to attend meetings in Gt Yarmouth. We must attend these meetings to listen to their plans and use this as an opportunity to ask questions.
