Why vote for a Labour council on Thursday 7th May?

A vote for Labour is the only sure way to have Labour in control of Waveney district council, working for the benefit of the whole community on the 8th May, 2015.

A Labour council would be more dynamic, with a forward thinking, diverse and strategic team of councillors with a bold positive vision to take the area forward over the next four years.

Voting Labour sends a confident message of hope and faith in the future of the people of Waveney.

That the best is yet to come, so that the potential of all in Waveney can be unleashed, especially the talents of our young people, whilst building on the traditions and experience of the past.

Labour candidates are a diverse mix of people with talents and experience across many areas of working life.

Waveney Labour candidates have been out there in our local communities listening to the people of Lowestoft, Beccles, Bungay, Southwold, Reydon and Halesworth as well as in the rural areas and we have come forward with a local Waveney Labour manifesto. In addition our Pledge cards, one for Lowestoft and one for Waveney set out exactly what a Labour council for Waveney would do for you from the 8th May, 2015.

Our key pledges:

  • We will campaign for a third crossing in the 'central' location, not just a replacement bridge

  • We will review the current Area Action Plan and create a plan that puts jobs first

  • We will introduce a minimum 30 minutes free parking on any pay and display to support our local high streets and encourage people to shop locally

  • We will work hard to ensure every child has a good local school

  • We will reduce the housing waiting list

  • We will promote tourism and attract visitors by supporting seafront improvement and events such as Armed Forces Day and new Lowestoft Summer Festival

  • We will restore pride in the community by making Waveney cleaner, healthier and safer

  • We will campaign to reopen the Beccles Householders' Waste Recycling Centre

  • We will work with residents to deliver a new community centre for Bungay

  • We will fight against closure of children's centres across Waveney

Vote Labour for hope and a confident brighter future for Waveney.

Let`s all get Waveney working together again!

Cllr Sonia Barker
Leader, Waveney Labour group
