Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships (STP)
Norfolk and Waveney STP.
Since the closure of Oulton Medical Centre I have followed closely on what is happeneing within our NHS. I have been to several meetings concerning STP’s. Waveney is included within the Norfolk and Waveney STP. Public meetings have been held within Norfolk, including Kings Lynn, Norwich and Gt Yarmouth. Waveney is included in this partnership but so far we have not been given the opportunity to listen to the plans and to ask questions. I have been calling for a public meeting to be held in Waveney. I do believe that the public needs to know what is being planned within the NHS.
What I believe is that if these STP plans become fully implemented, we could go from an efficient publicly provided tax-funded healthcare system to a private based system borrowed from an American insurance industry notorious for its high cost and inequalities. Accountable Care Systems(ACS) in England would slash spending by 2020/1, open the NHS to private companies and could threaten patient safety standards and restrict patient’s access to treatments. ACS are coming. It is clouded in secrecy and no one wants to talk about them in public.
We must have the opportunity to find out what is being planned for Waveney within the Norfolk and Waveney Partnership.
Councillor Jane Murray (Oulton).
