Please find details below of this years May Day festival to be held on Monday 6th May at The Seagull Theatre.
TUC supported by Waveney Labour present a packed program of events including the John Ward Band, Flip The Flop and an Open Mic Session as well as The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists Edwardian magic show to round off the evening.
1:45 – Political Address – Graham White from NEU opens the day.
2pm – 6pm – FREE – A festival of music, theatre, poems and stories, starting with Gibbon’s & Gaulier ‘Flip the Flop’ session of fun theatre games and exploration. There’s original songs and traditional music from the John Ward Band and Dean Parkin’s ‘Made on The Grit’, revisiting stories from the hard working lives of Lowestoft’s most easterly fishing community. And a chance to perform at an Open Mic session hosted by Olly Watson.
8pm – Ticket Price : £8 (full) / £5 (unwaged) – The Mayday Festival ends with an Edwardian magic show presented by actor Neil Gore – ‘The man of many characters’ – with projected animation, political conjuring tricks, music and song, as we meet the famous characters from the book. An entertaining one-man show that includes, scenes speeches and audience participation. Before the performance Roop Butlin will be performing ‘Songs from the Underground’ in the bar.
