Jess Asato, the Parliamentary Candidate for Waveney took part in Politics East Energy Debate broadcast by the BBC on 25 June 2023.
Jess is a passionate advocate for a sensible transition to renewable energy and Labour’s belief that we can achieve new zero carbon by 2030.
Key points she made were:
- Labour’s plans to create 1 million new jobs with our Green Energy Mission to make Britain a clean energy superpower today
- Empowering local communities to develop their own energy supply through making available up to £600m in funding for local authorities and up to £400m low-interest loans each year for communities, creating up to a million owners of renewable power by 2030
- Imposing tough new targets to get planning decisions on renewables down from years to just months and end the farce of planning decisions languishing on Ministers desks and crack down on Whitehall blocking developments.
